Alex Davis Law announces $1.25 million settlement in Louisville cemetery class action lawsuit

After more than seven years of litigation, the attorneys at Alex Davis Law are pleased to announce a $1,250,000 settlement program for a class action lawsuit involving St. Stephen’s cemetery in Louisville.

The case, called Tina Seaton et al. v. St Stephen’s Cemetery Association et al., was brought by our lawyers in Jefferson Circuit Court on behalf of hundreds of families who alleged the cemetery and its board members lost records related to the location of bodies, buried loved ones in improper locations, and failed to provide headstones and other burial services in violation of Kentucky law.

Surviving spouses and their children who purchased a burial plot or services from St. Stephen’s cemetery between January 1, 1992 and February 24, 2017 may qualify for this settlement. The amount of money received by each family will depend on the number of submitted claims and other factors.

In order to qualify for the St. Stephen’s cemetery settlement, you must file a claim form and provide proof you are eligible to receive compensation before March 24, 2025. For more information and to submit a claim form, visit www.KYCemeterySettlement.com. If you are a class member and have questions about the claims process, you may reach us at 502-882-6000.
