Lawsuits alleging that Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and other GLP-1 drugs caused serious stomach injuries or sudden vision loss continue in federal court. The claims are proceeding in two separate multidistrict litigations (MDLs) in Pennsylvania before Judge Karen Marston. Our team at Alex Davis Law is involved in both tracks of the case.
Gastroparesis Lawsuits
The stomach-injury cases are part of MDL No. 3094 and allege stomach paralysis, otherwise known as gastroparesis. In September 2026, the Court held hearings concerning expert testimony on key issues, including whether these medications can cause the alleged injuries. The Court’s ruling is expected in the coming months, and it will affect how the lawsuits proceed. The schedule is addressed in Case Management Order No. 32.
NAION Vision Loss Lawsuits
A separate litigation, MDL No. 3163, involves claims that certain GLP-1 medications caused non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), an eye condition that can cause sudden, permanent vision loss. The Court has ordered early discovery and motions on issues including causation and drug warnings. See Case Management Order No. 12. The NAION cases remain at an earlier stage than the gastroparesis claims. There are about 250 lawsuits alleging vision loss, compared to roughly 4,000 cases linked to gastroparesis. NAOIN is sometimes referred to as an “eye stroke” and it often results in partial or full blindness in one eye. Sadly, there is no proven cure or corrective treatment.
